Psychiatric consultation

Diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions — in person and online.

Wnętrze poradni Forma

A psychiatric consultation is a meeting with a psychiatrist whose aim is to understand your difficulties, reach a diagnosis and plan treatment together. A psychiatrist works with, among other things, mood and anxiety disorders, sleep and attention problems (ADHD), and more complex conditions such as bipolar or psychotic disorders.

During the conversation we ask about your current symptoms, how they have developed and how they affect daily life, as well as your health history, the medicines you take and your family situation. It is a conversation, not an exam — we hold it calmly and with respect, at a pace that suits you. Where needed we suggest further assessment, for example blood tests or the computer-based MOXO test for ADHD. Consultations take place in person at our clinic or online.

The first consultation usually lasts longer than later ones. Based on it we agree a plan together: this may be medication, psychotherapy, further assessment, or a combination. If we recommend medication, we explain how it works, when to expect results and what side effects may occur. The final decisions are always made together with you.

Before the visit it is worth thinking about what worries you and for how long, and preparing a list of the medicines you take (names and doses) and any earlier medical records you have. You will find more tips on the "Before your visit" page in the materials for patients.
